Orchid Island is the name of the barrier island of Vero Beach, Florida located between the Atlantic Ocean and the Indian River. It is comprised of the central beach area where shops, services and restaurants are located, as well as a wide selection of hotels. There are many fine residential condominiums and single family home communities on Orchid Island. The most expensive are Orchid Island Golf and Beach Club with oceanfront condos, oceanfront single family mansions, as well as homes with views of the 18 hole golf course, and riverfront mansions with ocean access docks. Johns Island is a large ocean to river community with golf course, oceanfront and riverfront homes. Marsh Island offers direct riverfront homes with ocean access docks as well as a protected marina with docks for residents. Orchid Isle Estates is located on Little Orchid Island in the Indian River, just south of Hwy 510 near the Disney Vero Beach Resort. Cache Cay riverfront homes are located close to the central beach area. On the south barrier island, The Anchor at the Moorings has luxury waterfront homes with water depths to accommodate a large sailboat. Luxury oceanfront condos include The Carlton, Sea Colony and Ocean Park. Ocean Park is the newest, and conveniently located within walking distance of the shops, art galleries and fine dining of the central beach.
